Hempology 101 Anniversary in Victoria Tonight!

It is sometimes hard for me to believe that I have coordinated weekly pot
meetings for 8 full years now, but facts speak for themselves. We like to think
of ourselves as the loudest, proudest bunch of potheads on the planet and have
plenty of reasons for such a bold boast. While some have larger rallies and
marches, nowhere else does over 100 people gather every single week to educate
the public, smoke herb openly and activate the cannabis culture.

The list of unique demonstrations, media stunts, police interactions, musical
gatherings, information booths, public speaking appearances that Hempology 101
has participated in, or organised entirely, would take a full book to explain
properly. While we intend upon celebrating today more than boasting, here
is a brief list of a few accomplishments of the International Hempology 101
Society in the last 8 years:

  1. Helped form and maintain the Cannabis Buyers’ Clubs of Canada, which supplies
cannabis and cannabis products to people with permanently physical medical
    problems or by doctor’s recommendation.

  2. Hosted 4 cannabis conventions at post-secondary institutions on St. Patrick’s
Day with variety of hemp investors, professors and cannabis activists each year.

  3. Maintained hempology.com website which contains history of group, newspaper
articles, letters, video footage and the entire Hempology 101 textbook.
Only 300 hemp paper textbooks have been printed and distributed, with the next
    edition expected in 2004.

  4. Prompted City of Victoria to declare November 15th as International
    Medical Marijuana Day.

  5. Established clubs at the University of Victoria and Camosun College.

  6. Presentations to Senate Committee which created the Special Report on Cannabis
included suggestion to have Canada host an international convention on the
non-medicinal use of drugs and this was ultimately made as a recommendation
    by the Senate.

  7. Santa Cannabis party at Soundgarden last year.

These are just a few accomplishments of our group. For a more complete history
see the webpage and ask around the streets of Victoria, because we can’t tell
you everything we have done or are doing as too many police read our material.

Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the past and we look forward to
even more good times in the future.

Happy 8th Anniversary Hempology 101!
