Letter to David Anderson’s Office

By Ted | April 11, 2002

Thursday, April 11, 2002

From: Leon ‘Ted’ Smith

Head Consultant, Victoria’s Hempology 101 Society

This is a formal request to meet with Mr. Anderson as soon
as possible to discuss the current life-threatening situation
in Victoria regarding the use and sale of cannabis for medical
reasons.

I have been arrested twice this year for distributing
cannabis to people with incurable medical problems, something
I had done for over 6 years on Vancouver Island with others,
working as the Cannabis Buyers’ Clubs of Canada. This continual
persecution is occuring in part because Health Canada has
created inadequate programs, which currently prefer people
die without legal medicine than to work with existing
clubs.

To make matters worse, some of the staff in Mr. Anderson’s
office appear to be quite ignorant of many important issues
regarding the medical use of cannabis, something quite obvious
during a recent visit. We look forward to educating Mr.
Anderson and his staff about the reasons why the cannabis laws
are unreasonable and how important the continuation of the
CBC of C is to the lives of many local citizens.

Please do not refuse us this opportunity to address these
issues A.S.A.P.

Yours truly,

Ted Smith
