Anti-Stigma Week

By admin | February 9, 2011

VICTORIA – The ads were too controversial for a transit company in England, who pulled the “Nice People Take Drugs” banners from the sides of their buses.

However, the City of Victoria will use the tagline for its Anti-Stigma Week in order to draw attention to issues around drug use.

In partnership with Aids Vancouver Island, the city will show films, provide seminars and hold open forum discussions for anyone who is interested, including drug users, as they attempt to open the lines of communication.

A 2009 Health Canada report showed more than 45% of British Columbians had tried an illicit drug of some form during their lifetime.
