Man held at jail where he was distributing pot

By Hempology | February 6, 2006

A man who tried throwing black packages filled with marijuana into the yard of the Wilkinson Road Jail this weekend is learning where you commit the crime, you spend the time.

The man allegedly tried to toss several small black packages with marijuana and unidentified pills into the yard at about 2 p.m., all under the watchful eye of jail guards.
The corrections officers went outside and arrested the man, whom Saanich police say has a criminal record dating back to 1965, as many as 15 aliases, and, at the time, had an outstanding arrest warrant for theft from Courtenay RCMP.
After appearing before a justice of the peace Sunday morning on charges of possessing of controlled substances for the purposes of trafficking, the man was remanded into custody in, of all places, back at the Wilkinson Road Jail.
Its serious, but you cant ignore the humour, said Saanich Staff Sgt. Ed Illi. You go there as a visitor and now youre an inmate.
