Marijuana Charges Against Nuggets’ Anthony Dropped.

Denver forward Carmelo Anthony had marijuana charges dropped by the city district attorney Wednesday. Anthony was cited in October with possession before boarding a team flight.

“I’m thankful to be vindicated by the dismissal of this charge,” Anthony said. “As I stated before, I never intentionally possessed marijuana. My responsibility was to see this process through and I have done that.”

Less than an ounce of marijuana was found in his bag at Denver International Airport. Anthony said the substance was left there in his bag by a friend.

“This case has received more prosecutorial scrutiny than any petty offense in Denver history,” said Dan Recht, Anthony’s agent. “The City Attorney looked at the facts, considered additional information, talked to witnesses and made the right decision.”

In six games this season, Anthony is averaging 6.5 points and 8.8 rebounds for the Nuggets.
