RCMP grab $4 million in pot

RCMP raided a remote wilderness area west of Port Hardy Wednesday and seized 1,100
marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $4 million.




The search took place in an area accessible only by aircraft or boat. The mature plants
were cut down and carried out of the bush to be destroyed.


RCMP described the crop as a sophisticated marijuana grow operation of the kind run by
organized crime. the plants had been started indoors and then moved outside.


Police did not release the names of any suspects in the case, but said the investigation
is continuing.
