POT MEETING UNCOVERS NO NEW GROUND

Victoria’s two compassion clubs are operating illegally, that much appears clear. Apparently, the chances of either the Vancouver Island Compassion Society or the Cannabis Buyers Club receiving a legal exemption to provide medical marijuana for their members is slim at this point.

The Director of Corporate and Regulatory Services circulated a copy of the Health Canada report dated January 30, 2006 prepared by Linda dabros and advised Committee that this matter has een recently released to the media. Committee requested that this matter be discussed when Councillor Chandler is present at the next COTW meeting.

Steve Kubby asks for permission to use cannabis in prison

Medical marijuana activist Steve Kubby asked a Placer County judge Tuesday to let him use cannabis while he serves a 120-day jail sentence for a drug conviction in 2000. The Placer sheriff’s department said it is opposed to the idea.
